Apothic Red
Winemaker’s Blend – 2010
California
We love a wine with a crafty, mysterious name. Apothic Red has just that. From their website:
“More than 800 years ago, vintners blended and stored their most coveted concoctions in a mysterious place called Apotheca.”
The first sip of Apothic Red is surprising, to say the least – surprising and delectable. A few sips later and you realize why: this wine combines most of your favourite things. Smooth, spicey and sweet, thick and lingering, the initial taste is that of velvety plums and fruit. But Apothic Red isn’t done yet – it finishes with tantilizing mocha and vanilla. This reasonably-priced wine has earned a place on our Mystery Faves shelf, and a glass sipped while watching a film noir is a treat indeed.
Pair it with:
The Masquerade Murder. Apothic Red will perfectly suit the indulgence of masquerade venue (the Biblioteca Marciana in Venice, Italy), the smooth, soft masks and costumes and, of course, the exhilerating truth behind the librarian’s enigmatic murder
